For your convenience, we have compiled a Florida Nursing Home Directory of more than 600 Nursing Homes organized by city. We do not sell, endorse or recommend any of these services, products or particular facilities.
It is always the “best choice” to have a Nursing Home near your home, or the home of the most frequent visitor to the patient. However, beds are not always available at the time you most urgently need one. Therefore, it is wise to give yourself three-four choices, in as close proximity as possible. Keep in mind, that it may be necessary for the family members to travel some distance if it means placing the patient as soon as possible, for the patient’s ultimate safety. In some cases, it may be possible to later “transfer” a patient to another facility that might be more convenient, if a bed becomes available. You would need to determine this option with the administrator of the nursing home you choose.
It is important for you to VISIT each Nursing Home that is available to your loved one. Telephone ahead and make an appointment for a “tour”. Normally, the Social Services Director will be your guide and will also be able to answer questions.
Note: Should you wish to engage the services of The Angel Solution, we will assist you in locating a suitable nursing home.
Assuming you have the doctor’s prescribed orders for your loved one, and a suitable Nursing Home has been located with an available bed, and your loved one is a resident or about to become one, you are now ready to begin the application process. Be certain to tell the Social Services Director at the Skilled Nursing Facility that you are applying for Medicaid benefits. They may then require only the “Patient Responsibility” payment until your application has been approved.
